QUILT
Issue #92
Aug/Sep 2008
One more dip in the lake! One more afternoon nap on the porch!...
Dear Quilting Friends,
I really enjoy these lazy days of late summer. They seem to whisper one more picnic, one more dip in the lake, and one more afternoon nap on the porch! And so do the quilts in this August/September issue that were beautifully photographed in Corolla, North Carolina. If you use your imagination you can almost smell the sea, as the ocean breeze gently turns the pages of this relaxing issue. No project is too challenging, as I want these end-of-summer projects to be fun, stress-free and easy-to-complete.
For those who love gatherings with girlfriends, a Friends and Flowers line by Mary Engelbreit is featured in a lap quilt with a party table runner and pillow. An Asian beauty, called Fuji Afternoon, is sewn from a panel to create a countryside view from an open window. Marie Osmond has done it again, with another striking fabric collection called Parisian Paisley seen in a Trip Around the World setting. The Wind in the Willows quilt by the ladies of WillowBerry Lane features layered appliqué. And for the little guy (or gal), there are fun quilts with trucks and airplanes that will create hours of quiet play. All together there are 15 great projects!
There’s still time to visit a new quilt shop or two, so read about several in the Shop Hop. And how about a trip to a quilt show or museum? No time to take in a show; don't worry we bring the show to you with a Gallery of 6 beautiful art quilts. I recently attended my local quilt show to discover a quilt from the late 1800’s labeled, “rescued from the trash, maker unknown.” I snapped a photo and had it reproduced in a repro fabric line and called it Rocky Mountain Tribute.
Finally, the Last Stitch says it all…a delightful garden walkway that paints a picture of a never-ending summer. Pick up a copy today and enjoy!
Until next time!
