QUILT
Issue #90
Jun/Jul 2008
Our summer issue is overflowing with bright quilts and beautiful fabrics....
Dear Quilting Friends,
I must say that it doesn’t feel like summer if I haven’t been to the beach. In our family, summer vacations at the seashore were as natural as breathing. So I was delighted when QUILT magazine traveled to Tybee Island near Savannah, Georgia, to photograph this issue. You’ll find 14 quilts in wonderful summer settings: on the sandy beach, on open porches, and in the little cottages of this quaint seaside town.
Our summery issue is packed with quilts that say, “Relax, enjoy the sun, and take time to smell the flowers!” The cute Braid Parade is a perfect “to go” project to take on vacation, while Fun in the Sun is an adorable beach quilt, especially for the sun worshipper in your family. Denim Pockets is a quick quilt for a beginner, as well as a more experienced quilter who just wants a laid-back project. And Cottage Charm is just that—charming summer geraniums surrounded by a red checkerboard setting.
One quilt is just as wonderful as the next, and each one of them is totally different. I also know you’ll enjoy a sneak peek at the latest swatches from 13 enthusiastic fabric companies. Watch for these great fabrics in your local quilt shop. And our Last Stitch is out of this world! It’s called Up, Up and Away and you’ll see why when you buy this fun issue!
Always inspiring Jackie Robinson from Eureka, Montana, talks about her heartfelt devotion to design and offers a glimpse into her newest fabric collection. She also includes a quilt pattern called Pick Me that she designed just for you.
So pour yourself a cold glass of lemonade and get settled into your favorite lawn chair while you enjoy this June/July issue of QUILT and pick out your next fun project!
Wishing you a great summer!
