Quick Quilts
Issue #83
Back to School
Remember when we were children, and those words conjured up the end to long days playing outside, the
return to studying and worst of all, the loss of free time?
But "back to school" can take on a new meaning – at least for quilters! Instead of playing outside,
we can play with new fabrics, layouts and stitch patterns. We don't have to study 'rithmetic, but
we can "do the math" on cutting the most pieces from your yardage. As far as free time goes, if your
children are back in class, you might find yourself with more free time for your own quilting projects!
So have a look at page 60 — our Basic Directions will send you to the head of the quilting class with
tips galore.
Whether you're a beginner or experienced quilter, you'll find the perfect project in this issue!
Magic Squares, on page 26, looks difficult but pieces together quickly in strips. Or keep up with the
trend toward brown as an accent color with our Daisy Chain set (page 30) or the Manzanita quilt (page 8),
featuring fabrics by new designer Joel Dewberry. The holidays will be here before you know it, so get
started early on our Red-dy for Snow! redwork quilt on page 46 and Advent Calendar (page 50).
Back to school never sounded like so much fun!
